A love of design & function with hospitality industry experience

I love design — and all things pretty. As a little girl, I would design and make imaginary prom dresses and shoes. I received my first sewing machine in junior high school, and made a white linen jumpsuit, my absolute favorite. My childhood was full of touching textures, draping silhouettes, and expressing my aesthetic.

I also am an experienced massage therapist. Working with in-house spas and independently for over 30 years, I have a keen understanding of guest preferences and how hospitality industry corporations can provide an even more memorable guest experience.

Sarah Shaines Designs is a marriage of these two passions.

A legacy passed down through four generations

Raised in New Hampshire, refined in New York City, and based on Maui since 2002. I’m from a long line of successful retail business owners starting with my great-grandfather. My own retail career spans over 40 years — beginning in our family business and with the outstanding companies of Bergdorf-Goodman, Macy’s in New York City, and the designer OMO Norma Kamali.

I have gathered a team of superior fabric weavers and sewers who match my discerning standards of production. Every element of construction is precise, with meticulous finishes, and an emphasis on details. You will be pleased.
